Community Engagement

Community engagement is the cornerstone of any organization's success. For a nonprofit animal shelter, fostering strong connections with volunteers, donors and the broader community, the organization amplified its impact, increased adoption rates and provided critical resources for animals in need.

Engaged communities bring fresh perspectives, sustained support and valuable advocacy, creating a network of care that ensures every animal has a chance for a brighter future.

Volunteer Newsletters

Each month, I authored Volunteer Newsletters accessible to the public, highlighting program updates and upcoming volunteer opportunities. To foster engagement, I invited volunteers to contribute guest posts, share photos and write about their favorite shelter animals, which helped boost adoption outcomes.

The success of these newsletters led to additional responsibilities, including writing sponsored articles, facilitating blog features and more. This experience solidified my passion for community engagement and communication!

Volunteer Program Revamp

The year 2020 was rough; a time of constant adjustment and uncertainty as the pandemic affected our world. Although many operations and services initially halted to keep communities safe, Animal Care League (ACL) never paused.

In March 2020, ACL enlisted my expertise to revamp its volunteer program and harness community support to provide shelter for animals in need. After only a few months, volunteer retention increased by 300% — driven by the development of comprehensive resources that empowered volunteers to excel in their roles.
